A cheap and easy to make  meal if friends or family come around unexpectedly: classic Club Sandwich is a delicious and satisfying sandwich that's perfect for a quick and tasty meal. Here's a recipe for the best Club Sandwich:

Ingredients:

  • 12 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or multigrain)
  • 8 slices cooked turkey or chicken breast
  • 8 slices cooked bacon
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Toothpicks or long cocktail sticks (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Lay out the 12 slices of bread on a clean surface. Toast them if you prefer a warm sandwich.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard together to make the spread for the sandwich.
  3. Spread the mayonnaise mixture on one side of each bread slice.
  4. Start assembling the Club Sandwich: Take three bread slices and place them mayo-side up. Layer one slice with lettuce leaves, then top with slices of turkey or chicken breast, followed by slices of bacon, and a slice of cheddar cheese.
  5. Take another bread slice with the mayo side down and place it on top of the cheese.
  6. Add another layer of mayo-side-up bread slice. Layer this slice with sliced tomatoes, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Take the last slice of bread, mayo-side down, and place it on top of the tomatoes to complete the sandwich.
  8. Using a sharp knife, cut the sandwich diagonally from corner to corner, creating four triangles.
  9. Secure each quarter with a toothpick or long cocktail stick to hold the layers together. (optional)
  10. Serve the Club Sandwich with a side of crispy potato chips or a fresh salad.

Enjoy the perfect balance of flavors and textures in this classic Club Sandwich. It's a delightful option for lunch or a light dinner, and you can customize it with additional fillings like avocado, cucumber, or your favorite deli meats. Happy sandwich-making!
